This year, my skincare game has gone from novice to expert level 1000+.

I have the amazing Korean skincare experts on TikTok who spill all of their secrets for endless youth to thank for this.

(Side note: Did you know that at 25 your skin drastically reduces collagen production which means you start aging FOR REAL and that serums are the key to preserving youth NOT moisteruizer??!??! I can’t believe I didn’t know this until I was in my 30’s!!! 😭😭😭)

ANYWAY.

I’ve been getting facials every 4 weeks as part of my self-care routine and I’ve noticed a SIGNIFICANT difference in my skin.

I’m talkin’ C.L.E.A.R, bright, smooth and oh so dewy! And way less scaring, pimples and that leathery effect you get from traveling.

So naturally, I want the products. 😂

My facialist is fantastic. Before our sessions she asks me what I’d like to focus on in the treatment (anti-aging, reducing inflammation etc..) and she tells me what products she’ll use, what they each do, why they’re amazing and her experience with them.

I love that she’s passionate about educating me on what on earth she’s doing because even though I don’t think I need to know, I’m always really fascinated by what I learn.

And what she did naturally (and without trying) was upsell me the products.

HOWEVER, when the conversation switched to talking about money and pricing (or closing the sale), she went into an awkward robot mode where I almost had to convince her to sell them to me.

The conversation went a little like this…

  • This is the serum we use for xyz
  • But.. um.. the only thing is.. the polish has to go with it
  • But they are.. um.. a bit pricey…
  • But you only need to use a tiny amount each day!
  • But we can give you a great discount!
  • But of course you don’t have to buy them
  • You can wait until you’ve run out of your other products
  • This year has been crazy so it’s totally understandable
  • If you want, we can book you in again to try out the treatment once more before you decide…

I know she’s hitting her upper limit with her money blocks so I ask her one simple question:

>> Do you believe this is the best product for my skin?

Her reply: Absolutely. I wouldn’t recommend them if I didn’t, and if I didn’t use them myself. They’ve helped my skin tremendously as well as the customers who’ve bought them. And you’ve seen the results yourself from one session each month. They’re absolutely the right thing for your skin.

Me: So.. can I buy them already?

She laughs. I laugh. I buy the products and all is well with the world again.

But that whole thing was unnecessary.

Because to me it’s a no-freakin’ brainer. I’m ageing by the minute, I don’t want to wait another damn month to get the elixirs of youth!

I was already sold.

But she could have easily sabotaged it with her own limiting beliefs and money blocks had I not seen the value in what she was selling.

Which brings me to the 3 main lessons I learned about money blocks and sales through this fascinating event.

1. Your unhealed money blocks will cause you to sabotage your business unnecessarily

That awkwardness you feel when asking for the sale, the resistance that comes up before sending the payment link or the guilt that consumes you when a client pays you in full.. none of it is necessary or required for running a business.

It’s also a discomfort you don’t have to endure for the rest of your life. It’s not a medical condition.

You can actually get to a place where you accept payment with ease because you know to your core it truly is an equal exchange. But that requires change in your thinking about money and your own self-worth, and until that happens you tend to only allow yourself be drip fed abundance rather than letting it flow freely.

2. Even your own money blocks can’t stop the right people from buying your product or service:

Your target market, your ideal customer, your people were made for your products and services. Even though my facialist wasn’t confident in her sales skills or having the money conversation, she was confident about the product, which is what sold me on it. And that’s what I want you to remember when you’re out there in the world making your offers.

You can still sell your programs and services and make money while you’re working on your own money stuff. It’s not a conditional world where you only get to make money if you’ve cleared your blocks. I mean, doing so makes it easier to accept money, ask for more and increase past what is possible for the average human, but it’s not the requirement for sales of your products.

3. Believing that the customer wants what you’re offering is really important

You’ve gotta get out of this mindset that people don’t want what you sell, that they can’t afford it or that you’re being a hassle. It’s a self-sabotaging mindset to operate your business from.

This belief, if left to fester, will have you undercharging, overdelivering, getting taken advantage of and working yourself to burnout on repeat. You’ve got to start believing that your customers really do want what you’re offering (because they do), and you’ve really got to value what you do (even if you’re struggling with your own stuff). This is why the mindset work is as important as the actual strategy of business.

People really do want what you have to sell, love. Please, please, please respect and honour your work and the time, effort and investment that it has required to get to the point you’re at now. You’re worthy of being paid and people will love to pay you if you’ll just let them!

These pesky money blocks, they just show up everywhere don’t they?

It’s okay, it’s nothing to feel embarrassed or ashamed about.

Now that you know they’re there, it makes it so much easier to work through and heal, come and learn how to do that in The Rich Babe Society.

One step at a time is all it takes.

Hugs!
